Hearth Life

I think of the hearth as the heart of a home; the warmth of my kitchen as a tool for hospitality. I have a plaque on my counter-top that reads:

"Welcome, Lord we pray our Home's a refuge,
in a world with hearts so sore ~
help us make each person Welcome
as we open our front door."
 - Anne Peterson

I also know that our home is the hopping off place for our children, as they develop a Godly world-view. I want the view they have while daydreaming and looking out of our picture window to be one that opens up beyond the neighbor's corn-field, to a world that beckons like waves of wheat, ready for harvest.

"Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.'"
-Matthew 9:35-38

So here I will collect the posts about our home and hearth, and the daily goings on of our home-life.
